Celebrating System Engineers: The Unsung Heroes Behind Seamless
Technology

As the world
growingly becomes more embedded with digital technology on daily basis, there
is now a bunch of people whose importance has exponentially increased, the systems
engineers.

Everyday, systems
engineers work hard to contribute towards a better society, making human beings
feel comfortable and, more importantly, work efficiently. Whether these
contributions would be used at home or in the job, they would clearly have been
life-changing.

Systems engineering
gives a helping hand to improve diverse complex activities. These include
spacecraft design, computer chip design, robotics, software integration and
bridge construction. You are reading this article on a computer, it relies on
systems engineers. Similarly, you are travelling on this beautiful event to spend
your vacations is all due to system engineers.

HAPPY INTERNATIONALSYSTEMS ENGINEER DAY- A day to celebrate the people make our lives easier and
the world go round behind the scenes! Today is the Day, International System
Engineers Day, and its purpose is celebrating the folks who made it.

History of the
Day:

To study their air
defenses, a UK multidisciplinary team was assembled in 1937. Many of the
ancient civilizations used one form or another of systems engineering
techniques, including systems engineering as an earlier form of the current
systems engineering. The Greeks, Romans, Egyptians and Mesopotamians all
utilized systems engineering to construct roads, canals and sewers.

As NASA defines it,
"A system, in general, is a set of interrelated components working in a
coordinated manner toward a common goal." Systems engineering is a
discipline that borrows from many other engineering disciplines. It applies to
many fields such as engineering, technology, biology, chemistry and even
business processes.

More specifically,
it deals with the construction and planning of certain components or a system
design or integration system. Systems Engineers help integrate the many
components of the business in a great manner that enables efficiency. In fact,
they need a certain level of management and leadership to maintain system. They
will monitor and ensure that the systems are running properly. At its most
basic level, systems engineering is a set of practices that applies different
disciplines to solve problems.

Systems engineers
takes into account all the department as a whole rather than a collection of
separate components view as is found in many elements of lean. Essentially,
they consider the connections between different departments. At the next level,
theyfind ways to optimize their operations, make it more efficient and increase
their productivity.

This day is reserved
for celebrating the input, that engineers put in the engineering management
process, ultimately making professional as well as personal lives better.
Systems Engineers Day is a day dedicated to acknowledging the work of these
engineers and their importance. That systems engineer might have created many
things: a telephone, a computer, an airplane, good logistics systems, good
business models, a bridge. The folks who work at www.systemsengineerday. Over
the last several years, System Engineer Day was conceived by them to
acknowledge the amazing efforts and work of system engineers.

Responsibilities
of System Engineers:

The exact responsibilities of a Systems Engineer can vary based on the
industry, company, and level of the role. ”, but a few common tasks could be;

  • Architecture and implementation of systems and tooling
  • Network and interface monitoring, management, and troubleshooting.
  • Automation of tasks across production environments
  • Defining and maintaining security standards for systems.
  • Hardware maintenance, software upgrades and installations, and management of
    hardware.
  • Conducting system administration activities like, system upgrades, bug
fixing, backups, patches to maintain the integrity of the systems.
  • Performing restart and recovery procedures as required
  • Evaluating and allocating resources to satisfy organizational demands
  • Serve as escalation point for Tier I & II system infrastructure and
    service issues.
  • Using scripts to implement and manage automations of systems
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of system interfaces
  • Stabilization, interoperability, and security of system architecture.
  • Exercise response to service ANY service failure.
  • Writing and maintaining shell scripts
  • Undertaking and executing technology refresh projects successfully

Together, these tasks maintain the operation, security, and efficiency of IT
systems.

How International
Systems Engineer Day Should Be Celebrated

Today is a great day
for people like us or for those people who have a systems engineer in their
life to treat themselves or to appreciate the systems engineer who are in people’s
life for serving them. Make the most of it! Check out a few of these great
ideas for celebrating and recognizing International Systems Engineer Day:

Let’s explore the
beauty outside:

When people are
working in their computers all day, they may eventually forget how beautiful it
is outside the doors and in the charming Nature.
They should take a break and observe the the real deal landscape instead of
watching them on the desktop windows.

You’re on with “Systems Engineer Day” which encourages you to spend your day
under a shade tree, outdoors and taking fresh air breaths, or with a picnic
outdoors, in the fresh air. Walk or stroll around the park; and most likely
when you come in touch with nature, it will be a refreshing experience for your
soul.

To celebrate International Systems Engineer Day, you should throw a fun and
social event for your fellow systems engineers. Here’s how to celebrate the
day, whether you want to keep it low-key or go out with a big bang:

Select the Ideal Situation

Barbecue: Throw a backyard barbecue by firing up the barbecue grill,
feasting on mouth-watering food and reminiscing.

Take some refreshing: Some cold drinks and some discussion to relax
your mind.

Amusement park: Time to prepare for a day of gut-churning hangs over
including roller coasters and other rides.

Set a Theme: Plan it as an “Engineer Fun Day”, with activities
relating to engineering topics. Declare the attendees to wear T-shirts
according to the theme of technology or engineering for outfit.

Plan on having some fun things to do.

Make a “Debug the Code” challenge or an engineering trivia quiz as
ice-breaker and get everyone ROLFLMAO.

To help share these skills, you could hold a session on other projects,
interesting things they worked on or ideas they generated.

Games and Fun:

For parties at home,
arrange games for guests, such as corn-hole or something I’m calling “System
Jenga,” a tower of gaming systems.

Enjoy some rides
with together and take a few epic shots at the amusement park.

Add a Personal
Touch

Arrange for small
mementos such as techie key-chains or mugs.

And as the event  ends, toast among
the International Systems Engineers community for your contribution,
dedication, and imagination.

So come together as a group and have fun celebrating being a systems
engineer!

Systems Engineer Day is a day to acknowledge the important contributions of
systems engineers to the management of engineering and to celebrate all the
great things they have done. People who design, develop and maintain the
systems and infrastructures that shape how we live and work, at home and at
work.

Many of the day to day technology and inventions we use are built on those
contributions. The work of systems engineers is so ubiquitous in the developed
world that essentials like cellphones, laptops, airlines and highly regimented
logistical networks are virtually present. Their efforts work wonders for the
sustainable building of bridges across a business model, as well as
facilitating tools into functional solutions.

Systems Engineers work diligently behind the scenes and are often unnoticed
by the mass community. This day is celebrated to honour their skills, hard work
and ability to solve problems. Driven by the need to acknowledge these unsung
heroes of technology, the founders of systems engineer day. com who conceived of
Systems Engineer Day. I want the next generation of engineers to see this
career, want to pursue this important and fulfilling industry, whilst also
honouring the champions of this industry.

In an ever-changing world, it can continually remind us of the impact that
systems engineers’ work has on industries and lives, spurring innovation and
growth.

Leave your cares and work at the door and relish the day.
